i have a few shows i would like to upload to the archive but i've never done it before and the instructions are not very helpful. can anyone help me with like a step by step guide or something? i've already converted to flac, made a txt. file and made checksums using md5summer. however i'm not sure if i made the checksums properly and i don't know what to do with the FTP server and what im supposed to do after i get the show transferrred. thanks

If you are following these steps:
http://www.archive.org/audio/etree-contribute.php?stage=upload_info

Which parts are not very helpful? Maybe we can make them better with constructive suggestions. Thanks for advice!

well you see i used smartFTP to upload the files, i couldn't upload just the folder with the files in it, i had to highlight all the files and then upload
them directly to the upload server. it says in the instructions that after i do that that i need to go to the import concert form but when i try to access the form it says i have no matching directories and im pretty sure i named the files according to etees namin standards. is your system supposed to automatically know that i uploaded the show and give me the form? do i have to wait a couple days? these are the kind of instructions im looking for. the page you provided seems to not detail that stuff

Ah, the problem is your files really do need to be inside a properly-named fileset directory aka folder as shown on the Naming Standards page, in order for the fileset to be recognized by the software here. So in your upload area, create such a folder and then move your files into it. The retry the import step. Good luck!

ok so i should make the folder right there under where it says audio-uploads.archive.org and then in the next window it says parent folder right? then just upload?

I think you said your files are already uploaded to the site, right? So right next to the uploaded copies, create a folder that's named whatever is appropriate, like sci2005-11-29.flac16 or if it's a "number named" band, like 311-2005-11-29.flac16

Then, move the files that are next to that folder, *into* that folder instead. I'm not familiar with Smartftp; you may need to consult the program's documentation about creating folders and moving files into folders, if it is not obvious from just looking at the program.

Then, visit the website here and try the import.

Good luck!
